Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I'm Michael and I buy and sell land in the US. They're usually plots of land quite far off the grid, in low inhabited areas — in Arizona, for example. A lot of the ways in which I sell these plots of land are not very high tech: it's a lot of mail offerings and then, surprisingly, a lot of the marketing and sales is through Facebook Marketplace and then less often land-specific sales websites.

What is the project you are working on with Glif?

So I use Glif to create my marketing materials for these land sales. I'll hire a photographer to go out to the plot and take photos of the land.

I'll then take those photos and use Glif to edit them and compile them into different formats — like short-form video, image + text etc. — to create content for the land listing. My main aim is to give people a greater sense of the land and the surrounding area. It's about presenting the essential details, but I'm also trying to convey a feel for the nature, the light, the essence of the land.

What is your creation process?

My greatest use for Glif is that initial image editing. I, of course, want these images to look appealing and alive, but I also have a responsibility as a seller to correctly represent the land I'm selling. So, like for any marketer using AI tools, it's a trade-off. I am looking to achieve a high quality, studio budget look, not to falsely advertise. And I think Glif does a good job at hitting that mark.

On the flip side, I love what Glif, and maybe more generally AI image editing, allows for creatively with this kind of marketing.

You'd not usually think of real estate marketing as a creative field, but I try to have fun with it, to use AI to help people imagine the possibilities these pieces of land hold. So I use Glif to build perspective houses on the properties, to show what life might be like for the buyer off the grid.

I've also had some wackier marketing ideas — like creating images picturing alien landings on land plots, referencing a nearby extraterrestrial-related plot of land (Area 51), which were maybe a little too out there for my buyers.

How does the Glif agent play a role in shaping your project?

Before Glif, I didn't create sophisticated marketing content. I didn't have the time or resources to put the effort in. Glif has been really straightforward in that way. It's quite literally opened up a whole channel for me. I can make quality ads in seconds, really easily and in a way that's creative and enjoyable. I also think it'll be really helpful going forward as the need to create variation in ads increases with the demands of the Meta algorithm. I do not have the time to make small changes to my imagery everyday, but with Glif it's not a strenuous ask anymore.
