Early-1980s new-wave studio photography built from two opposing saturated gel hues and nothing else. Either a single hard cobalt-cyan key lights the subject against a flat, separately lit cadmium-orange seamless, or crimson and cyan-teal strobes cross on the subject with the warm hue owning the shadow side and ground. Deep true-black shadows, hyper-glossy specular skin and surfaces, dense reversal-film saturation with fine grain, and stark two-tone colour-blocking give portraits, objects, rooms and night-lit sets the same album-sleeve graphic punch.

Faces and full silhouettes reveal how the style handles identity, proportion, and clothing. No drawn line; hard optical edges and a sharp terminator where the two gel hues meet on curved forms, with angular early-80s styling and graphic silhouettes against flat grounds.
An interior and an architectural threshold test depth, light, and spatial rhythm at two different scales. Tight, dense framing on an 85 to 105 mm lens at moderate depth of field, large areas of flat coloured negative space and stark two-tone colour-blocking in the manner of a 1980s record sleeve.
A process image and a still life show whether the treatment stays tactile both in motion and at rest. Hyper-glossy wet-look surfaces with razor-sharp pinpoint speculars and slight halation, matte surfaces taking a diffuse colour wash, and fine organic reversal-film grain with dense saturated chrominance.
Organic forms and a shared food ritual put color, softness, and visual appetite under pressure. Strict two-hue discipline: cobalt-cyan against cadmium orange, or crimson against cyan-teal, from hard strobes through physical gels with zero fill, 4:1 to 5:1 contrast and deep true-black shadows; local object colours are overridden by the gel wash.
