"input1": "\"We named you Jessica so that you'd have the same initials as your dad. Also, it sounds cool.\"*\nFortunately, unlike the chosen ones who've been named \"gift to the world\" or \"leader of the people,\" this means that there's no lofty purpose-upon-birth I have to live up to in the name of living up to my name. And hey, it's pretty cool to share initials with my dad.\n\nUnfortunately but mostly fortunately, this means I have to figure out my purpose for myself.\n\nI think you can learn a lot about a person from who they admire and aspire to become. I also feel like we're better at describing who we'd like to be, rather than directly describing ourselves. So, without further ado...\n\n\nWhen I reach the end of life, I'd like to become a cool grandma.\nI think this cool grandma ideology captures a lot of my beliefs really, really well:\n\n1. When I worry about something, I remind myself, \"When I'm a grandma in the year 2073, would this problem I'm describing still make sense to that neighborhood kid across the street?\" If it doesn't, I don't worry too much about it.\n\n2. I judge myself only on what I can control. At the end of the day, all we have control over is (i) how we react, (ii) how much heart we put in. While what we react to is out of our control, this shouldn't stop us from putting our best into what we can control. To this end, I'd like to think that I'm an optimist, or at least, I'm getting in the discipline of optimism.\n\n3. If I judge myself only on what I can control, I will do the same for others. Assume that they are giving their best. As a high school teacher used to say, when you wrongfully assume, you make an a-square-the-s out of you and me.\n\n4. I seek to do things with long shelf life (...long shelf life is a term I borrowed from Costco egg cartons 🤗🐣). When I say long shelf life, I mean that the satisfaction of doing the thing lasts long, relative to the time and energy put into accomplishing it. I feel like this is different from a long-term goal, which is accomplished over a long period of time but can have a short shelf life.\n\nMaking somebody's day easier has a long shelf life. It's sweet and simple, nuzzled in a day, yet the satisfaction lasts relatively long. That somebody is quite literally something with a life. You keep living, they keep living, it's very likely that you'll think warmly of them later down the line. Hence, long shelf life.\n\n5. Finally, a cool grandma will have cool stories to tell.\n\nIf this cool grandma ideology sounds like something you can get behind, know that I'll be rooting for you. We'll make it, one day at a time."
